The Dajia Insurance Shenzhen Headquarters Tower is located in the heart of Nanshan’s Houhai Financial District, neighboring the China Resources Headquarters, Tencent Tower, and Alibaba Center. Designed by the internationally renowned KPF architectural firm with façade consultancy by Arup UK, this super high-rise soars 273 m above the city skyline. The building adopts a distinctive “hourglass” form, elegantly tapering 23% at the midsection, creating a refined geometric sculpture. Its iconic elliptical tower and subtle concave textures harmonize with vertical white lines, producing a minimalist, modern visual rhythm.
The complex consists of a 57-story main tower and two podium buildings, totaling 217,000 m². Inspired by the concept of a “city gate,” KPF seamlessly integrates art and functionality. The central 36 m-diameter “sky lobby” and a 30 m-high rooftop garden provide panoramic views of Shenzhen Bay.
The façade features metal-strip decoration and totals approximately 81,200 m², including unitized glass curtain walls, cable-supported systems, and vertical ventilation elements. High-rise façade design faces multiple thermal challenges: cantilevers, protrusions, or discontinuous elements can form thermal bridges, metal components increase heat conduction, and improperly treated joints can lead to energy loss or condensation. These issues affect energy efficiency, indoor comfort, façade aesthetics, and maintenance requirements.
To address these challenges, the project team applied Warmframe Technology’s innovative high-performance curtain wall thermal-break blanket system, following its successful use in the Beijing Dajia Insurance Headquarters. The solution effectively blocks thermal bridges, lowers the façade U-value, reduces condensation risks, and improves structural safety and energy performance. The system also offers excellent durability, fire resistance, anti-aging properties, and low-carbon material benefits, supporting the project’s sustainability objectives.
With Warmframe’s technology, the curtain wall achieves continuous thermal insulation without cold or hot bridges and excellent condensation control. This high-performance solution enhances overall energy efficiency and indoor comfort while preserving design freedom. The project has achieved pre-certification for LEED Gold and WELL Gold, as well as China Green Building Two-Star Certification. Standing along Shenzhen Bay, the “crystal hourglass” tower has become a landmark alongside China Resources “Spring Bamboo” and Shenzhen Bay One, demonstrating Warmframe Technology’s contribution to sustainable, high-performance buildings.
