The 16th China Building Physics Conference recently concluded successfully in Chongqing. As the highest-level academic event in the field of building physics in China, the conference was hosted by the Building Physics Committee of the Architectural Society of China. It is the largest national-level academic platform for building thermal performance, acoustics, lighting, and energy efficiency, gathering nearly 900 experts, scholars, and industry representatives from top research institutes, design firms, and leading companies. The event focused on the theme “Cross-disciplinary Innovation Leading Transformation.” Warmframe Technology was invited to participate, with technical representative Mr. Zhou Yuzhen presenting an important paper showcasing the company’s latest research on the thermal performance of windows and curtain walls.
In the conference sub-forum, Mr. Zhou presented a specialized report titled “Simulation Study on the Impact of Winter Outdoor Environment on the Thermal Transmittance of Windows and Curtain Walls Based on THERM.” The paper addresses a core industry issue, exploring the often-overlooked effect of winter outdoor conditions—especially wind speed and temperature—on the overall heat transfer coefficient (K-value) of windows and curtain walls. Through rigorous THERM software simulations, the study revealed key patterns: in low-wind regions, the actual whole-window K-value may be approximately 10% lower than standard test conditions (3.0 m/s wind), potentially leading to material waste and overly conservative design; conversely, in high-wind regions, actual K-values can be about 5% higher, posing a risk of underperformance in energy savings. These findings provide crucial data and theoretical support for more accurate and cost-effective energy-efficient designs across different climate zones, offering practical guidance for building energy performance optimization.
Warmframe Technology’s presentation on this top-tier academic platform not only reflects the company’s relentless pursuit of technological innovation but also underscores its commitment to advancing industry standards. The conference emphasized the critical role of building physics in achieving China’s “dual-carbon” goals, aligning closely with Warmframe’s research. Moving forward, Warmframe Technology will continue to deepen its work in building energy efficiency, translating cutting-edge research into practical products and solutions, and collaborating with industry peers to drive high-quality, sustainable building development, ultimately contributing to healthy, comfortable, and low-carbon living environments.
